Abstract:
Purpose— Increasing the drug loading and creating tiny, fast-solving oral films of amlodipine besylate for placement on the tongue is the current goal of this study. It is necessary to have the medicine in dissolved form for the creation of formulations in order to achieve homogeneous film casting.Approach: In order to formulate oral films using the solvent casting method, a variety of solubilizer combinations were tested for the poorly water-soluble drug amlodipine besylate. These combinations included sodium caprylate, sodium benzoate, PVP K-25, and lysine hydrochloride. The goal was to decrease the overall solubilizer concentration necessary to produce a substantial increase in solubility of amlodipine besylate. The amlodipine besylate sample that was obtained was studied using DSC, melting point, and ultraviolet spectroscopy. Numerous characteristics, including look and feel, thickness, folding durability, surface pH, disintegration duration, drug content, TLC investigations, and dissolving rate studies, were assessed in the produced formulations. Final Thoughts and Findings — Amlodipine besylate oral films that dissolve quickly were successfully developed. The drug loading of amlodipine besylate, which is poorly soluble in water, was improved by using the mixed solvency approach.
